Meet the crew that will make your ski experience unforgettable

Njord Rota

Owner, guide, pilot

Njord holds a unique position in the industry, being both a guide and a helicopter pilot. Njord started his career out ski-guiding in the Garmisch-Partenkirchen region of the central Alps, and then worked as a ski patroller. Soon after he became a helicopter pilot as an officer in the US Army, then continued his career as a test pilot for Lockheed Martin. He’s also been a professional whitewater kayaker, the publisher of Kayak Magazine, and a teacher for aspiring boaters. In the winter, Njord teaches avalanche classes…and skis as much as he can.

Chad Mickschl

Chad has a variety of experience in the ski guiding and avalanche safety professions. Chad has worked as a ski mountaineering guide, heli ski guide, cat ski guide, outdoor education and avalanche safety instructor, avalanche forecaster, and on avalanche rescue teams with Flight for Life. Chad’s experience has taken him to various ranges in Alaska, Canada and the lower 48. When not guiding in the mountains, Chad enjoys spending time with his wife and three year old son.

Chris Shelly

Raised in the Adirondacks, Chris headed west after college. Having worked at eight ski resorts in six states, and with five different snowcat, and heli ski operations in three different countries, Chris knows his way around the mountains. He’s been a ski patroller, snow safety director, patrol director, guide, instructor, and holds a Masters Degree in Education and Human Resources. A lover of all-things-mountain, when Chris isn’t taking or teaching a class, you’ll find him kayaking, traveling, or spending time with family and friends.

Lynn Kennen

Lynn grew up in New England where she developed a love for the outdoors and skiing. Lynn began teaching skiing at a young age, laying the foundation for her skiing career, and then moved west after college in search of mountains and snow. She began competing in big mountain free skiing competitions and lined up multiple podium finishes. Lynn works as a trainer for the Alpine Meadows ski school, teaches steep skiing and women’s camps, and tests skis for Skiing Magazine. When not skiing Lynn works as a whitewater guide and spends time mountain biking, practicing yoga and riding her cruiser bike around town.
